The application of A. Kahekili Luluhiwalani for the settlement of the boundaries of the Ahupuaa of Kauhiula 2d, District of Hilo, Hawaii, 3d Judicial Circuit came on to be heard. After notice personally served on the owners of the adjoining lands, Petitioner present, R.H. Stanley on the part of the Hawaiian Government, and of the Administrator of the Estate of His Honor, M. Kekuanaoa, deceased.

On motion, an amended petition was filed by applicant in place of petition filed November 15th 1870.
And the petitioner reads his petition in the words following:

To the Honorable Rufus A. Lyman, Commissioner of Boundaries for the Island of Hawaii, 3d Judicial Circuit.
Sir:
I beg to make application to you for the settlement of the boundaries of the ahupuaa of Kauhiula 2d, Hilo, Hawaii, 3d Judicial Circuit. One half of Kauhiula was awarded to Alapai by Award No. 15, dated January 15th 1862. The boundaries of said land were not decided & defined in said award.

The copy of the survey of the portion not covered by Royal Patents, is herewith annexed to this petition in exhibit marked B. The remainder of the land ....

The boundaries of the portion of Kauhiula 2d that has not been sold and patented by his Majesty's Government are as follows:

Beginning at the base of the pali at the sea shore, at the Northern corner of land on Kauhiula 1st patented to A. Whelden, Royal Patent No. 1040; thence along A. Whelden's land
South 69 3/4° West 6.09 chains; thence
South 76° West 15.34 chains; thence
South 85° West 8.76 chains to eastern corner of Keoki's land on Kauhiula 2d, as patented Royal Patent No. 1346.; thence
North 12 3/4° East 13.20 chains along the makai boundary of Keoki's land to a puhala tree in the gulch at the intersection of the boundaries of Keoki's land, and of Alae; thence down the gulch, along the boundary of Alae to a spring called Kupaka; thence along the center of the gulch to the base of the pali at the sea shore. Thence along the pali at the sea shore to the place of commencement, and containing an area of 38 1/4 acres more or less.
