To the one called the President, William Lee, of the Land Commissioners whom the Mo`i appointed to investigate the claims in the Hawaiian Islands on the island of Oahu, in the city of Honolulu.
I hereby tell you, the Land Commissioners, the basis of how this place was gotten. My makuakane, Kauhewa, got it from Kaumaumakea and Umiokalani, and I am living here at this time.
My house lot is at the Bridge at Kikihale on the mauka side of this Bridge. The circumference is 70 fathoms 3 feet 8 inches. I know that I have a perfect right there and no one has ever objected to my living as a native born resident nor has my occupation been forbidden. It is true that I have lived here as a native born resident.
With true aloha, There are some witnesses - when the day comes I will tell their names.

Kalauapoula, sworn by the Bible and stated, "I have seen this place. Kawahawila's grandfolks, Kanehewa by name, had lived on this property and I am living there under Kawahawila. I had first lived there in the year 1831 and have been under Kawahawila to this day. The boundaries are the same as has been related to you by the first witness. I did not see Umiokalani while she had lived there and had built a fence and the house also. I have submitted my claim for that property as a land holder."
Kawahawila - I agree that Kalanapoula has an interest as land holder under me.
