To the Honorable Richards, the President of the Land Commissioners of the Hawaiian Islands whom the Moi appoint to investigate the cases of the Hawaiian race.

I, Naiwi, the one who claims a house lot at Waiahao, hereby explain to you, the commissioners who seek the right and the truth from God. I hereby tell the reason I got this place - it was idle land, not improved by anyone else. I was the one who worked and I hired workmen. Three works were performed and three /times/ I employed workers and I spent $70 i ....

This place has a fence with one house in it and Naiwi is living there. He had received this place during the time of Kinau in the year 1839. It was a vacant land, so Naiwi just went and lived there where his life has been peaceful and no one objecting to him"

Kaina, sworn by the Word of God and stated, "I have seen this place, it is very close to mine and my testimony is the same as Kaihiwa's statements which were read here. No one has ever objected to him to the present time."
