No. 657, D. Kalanikahua, Honolulu, Oahu, August 30, 1847
N.R. 328-329v2
Greetings to the Land Commissioners: I hereby tell you of my claims for my house lot at Kamanuwai in Honolulu, Oahu, and also at Kalanikahua, in Honolulu, Oahu.
The boundaries of the lot at Kamanuwai are: South, lot of L. Smith's church; makai side, upper Road /Beretania St.?/; north, house lot of Poka, and the stream; mauka side, house lot of Kapena.
The interest in this lot was from the time of Kamehameha I. It was unused land. Kaoleioku lived at Kalanikahua. My makuas were his retainers. .... ukaliu has just stated to you. No one has objected at Kalanikahua property. I have seen this land, it is in Honolulu here at Kalanikahua;
a narrow street is on the Waikiki side
on the front of the house, Smith's pasture
toward mountain, Mauka street
Lima's lot, Ewa and
Smith's lot is toward the ocean.
This had been from Keliikanakaole, who is Kalanikahua's own father. Kalanikahua has the place at the present time and his mother's young sister lives there. Kalanikahua has a house standing there; Kalei and Mahoe also have a house there. The place has been enclosed and there are several houses there. Kalanikahua is the sole owner of this place.
Naiamaneo's second testimony, "My testimony for this place and everything is the same as Kaukaliu has just stated here, and no other person owns that property."
