A lot of land on Southerly side of Nuuanu Street beginning at corner of my lot No. 4, on the street running Northeasterly along said street 48 ft.; thence Southeasterly along land of natives 46 6/12 ft.; thence Southwesterly along lands of Government & others 40 ft.; thence Northwesterly by my lot No. 4, 40 ft. to corner first mentioned. This lot I bought of William Wallace, See deed.

William Wallace, sworn, Mr. Reynolds offered a deed in evidence. I signed that deed, dated 17 September 1846 and gave it with Hanah, my wife, to Mr. Reynolds. I got this place from Governor Kekuanaoa from one I lost by the Nuuanu road being made in 1838. The place is fenced. There was a house, cookhouse & well on it. And I occupied it free from dispute ....

Lanai had brought a bill of sale from William Wallace on the 17th day of Sept. 1846 and John Ricord has recorded it.
William Wallace, sworn by the Word of God and stated, "I had received this place from the governor. When Nuuanu Street was under construction, a part of my property was taken for the street. Therefore, I went to the governor for a replacement, at which time I did receive it and I transferred it to Lanai. That was the time the street was constructed, altho' I do not remember the year. The lot has been enclosed, there are houses and a well. No one has ever objected to the present time. I have lived in peace until the place was acquired by Lanai. I received my first place from Mr. French."
