Greetings to the Land Commissioners: I hereby petition for the right to my house lot here in Honolulu. This place for which I petition is not mine from long ago, but is a replace-ment for my former place which was taken by Hotel Street, at the place of Kekala ma and a place within the enclosure of the Chinese Hotel. At the time the Honolulu streets were being laid out, I went to live at this place for which I petition you. Kekuanaoa gave me this place because of losing my former place to Hotel Street. I have lived peace-fully at this place for which I petition, from the time I acquired it until now, and no one has objected at this place where I have lived with my makuakane until his death. On his death he bequeathed this place to me, and I have been here until this day.*

Kalei's interest was purchased from the Governor - her former place was below, and when it was taken by the governor, this place was given to Kalei. No one has objected to her.
John Ii, sworn by the Word of God and stated, I have seen this place. It is just as Keala has stated here. The governor is the claimant to that property and because Kalei's property had been taken for the street, the governor had given this place to Kalei. The lot has been enclosed with two houses within. There is a well also and other conveniences of the lot.
