Greetings to the Land Commissioners: I hereby petition you for my house lot at Kamakapili in Honolulu, on the island of Oahu.
This lnterest began from the time of Kamehameha I.At this place, the makuas of myself and my kaikunane lived, until their deaths. Some of the makuas are buried at this place. My kaikunane, Keliikaika, lived here until his death, in the time of Kaomi. Upon his death I inherited this place.
I have lived there peacefully; just this previous year we returned to my kaikaina's place because of her illness - we went to care for her. She has been ill a long time, until now, therefore we have been living there a long time.
However, our kaikamahine is living at this place, in our house. I have just heard that Kalama has petitioned that we live under his authorlty. But I do not think that is so. Therefore, my petition to you, the people who can act on this.
It is right for Kalama to petition for his place, and for my kane and me to petition you for our place. I think my husband should do this, since he is the head /of the family/. His name is Kahawai ....

No. 560, Miha [Uiha], November 15 [1847]
Kalanomano, sworn by the Word of God and stated, "I have seen Miha living there on this place that [s]he is claiming. [S]He has lived there in the year 1830 to the present time and Miha has a house.
Kalama's lot is toward the sea of Miha's place; Kalama has two houses there, Miha has one. Miha had received his [her] interest from Kaikioewa. It was Kalama's place that was burned by fire, Miha's lot was not affected. There is no other person there except Miha and Kalama. Miha had built a fence on his property and so did Kalama for his [her?] lot. That is what I have known."
