Greetings to you, William Richards: I, Kuula, the one who has been harmed by the konohiki, hereby tell you truthfully:
1. When I lived at the`Ili of Kamookahi, Napoeha was the konohiki. I was not the tenant of that konohiki, my hunonas were the ones who had the land under Napoeha. However, I lived with my hunonas. Afterwards I prepared some lumber with the thought of building. I built three times and it was broken three times. The konohiki for-bade the building and evicted me saying I could not build my house there. Therefore, I and my wahine and keikis are in difficulties. I thought of going to ask Kuakini for a place to build my house.
2. Manuwa and I talked and I asked Manuwa to speak to Kuakini about a place to build my house. Manuwa went to speak to Kuakini about a kula place for me to build a house. Kuakini gave me a place to build, alongside the fence and ....

.... alama. I had seen Kuula living there in the year 1846. Kuula had received this interest from Huakini but these patches are not a separate moo. They are the 9 patches belonging to Kuula to this present time.

the patches on the makai side are mine.
I have not known anyone objecting to him.
Kuakini, sworn by the Word of God and stated, My information is the same as has been given here by Kaaumoa. I had seen him in the year 1845 and that had been the time I had given Kuula those patches. He had been my servant working on my work days and upon his death, the land would be possessed by his children and under me. Kekuanaoa had just given me the land as a man and in the year 1843, 1 had possession of that land. No other interest is in these patches.
