Greetings to all of you Land Commissioners: I, Kauila, the konohiki, hereby state my claims. The kihapais which are worked as po`ahas at Puapuaa 1 and Puapuaa 2 - those are my ahupua`as /over which he is konohiki/. The first kihapai is at Puapuaa iki, 1000 fathoms by 30 fathoms, circumference of 2006 /sic/,, another kihapai is 80 fathoms by 5 fathoms, 170 fathoms in circumference, another is 30 fathoms by 4 fathoms, circumference of 68 fathoms, another is 40 fathoms by 4 fathoms, circumference of 88 fathoms. That is the end of the kihapais which are worked as po`ahas.
Of those worked on by my own hands, the first is 15 fathoms by 10 fathoms, circumference of 40 f ....

Land from Kuakini in 1842, no one has objected to this /Him/.
Kala, sworn, He has seen in the ili land of Haleape in Puapuaa 2 ahupuaa, 16 kihapais. The boundaries are not known to Nahau but Kauila will talk to the surveyor when he shall come. Kauila's interst was from Kuakini in 1842, no objections.
