Greetings to the Land Commissioners I, a Hawaiian subject living at Hanalei, Kauai, in a place called Nukuhuluii, I hereby state my claim for land at that place. I occupied it perhaps in the year 1840, and I planted the kikope /coffee/ trees at that place, forty or more. The land of Kale is 33 fathoms on the east, 40 fathoms on the south, 28 fathoms on the west.
There are three houses on this land, and the food which is planted, therefore I believe I have a right there. It is for you to consider.

The lot (house) was received during the time of Kaumualii, later he went away. It was again returned to him after his return.
Section 2 - This was from his parents and it was a koele, however, I have never seen him there constantly.
Section 3 - I had seen him farming in 1845, but these are government koeles and they were conveyed to him, but the Konohiki would not give this land and Kamakaulii worked on it without compensation.
Ulaa, sworn, he has seen Kamakaulii's land in the same way as Mareko has seen it.
