To the Honorable, the Board of Commissioners for quieting Land titles, &c, &c, &c.
Your petitioner presents to your Honorable board that he is the owner of a certain lot of ground in the village of Honolulu, lying on the street leading over the river, to the Palama (142) one hundred and forty-two feet. Thence northeasterly by land of N.W. West [?] (94 feet) ninety-four feet; thence by land of natives, southeastery (62 feet) sixty-two feet, lot 4, to the street leading to Nuuanu (75 ft.) seventy-five feet (lot B), thence by said street southwesterly (lot B 82) eight-two feet to the corner first mentioned, continued in lot A 25 ft 107 feet. [sic?]
The subjoined plan shows the parts of each original lot (now included in one lot), the lot in part marked A was purchased by me of Alexander Smith as per bill of sale herewith. He, Smith, purchased of Kaupena (then Governess of the Islands) beyond this I profess no knowledge.
The part marked B, I bought of Kaiwi & Palua for my son, Edward Jackson Reynolds. The papers annexed will show the origin of the title claimed under the first vendors and for further information your petitioner would request Kaupena and Unaaloha be summoned before your board of commissioners. And further that your honorable board of Commissioners will award to him a right to a free and clear patent title to the above said ground, that if the award be so determined that the patent be made in ....

.... by Lanai (Stephen Reynolds) of Eight Hundred Dollars, we agree to convey the house lot for his son, Kui (Edward Jackson Reynolds) and his heirs forever.
The payment is thus: Six Hundred Real Dollars, and Two Hundred Dollars in property (waiwai), making Eight Hundred Dollars.
And we give to Lanai (Stephen Reynolds) for his son, Kui (Edward Jackson Reynolds), the document from Ulualoha, relative to his rights in the place. This right which was given to us is what we give to Lanai (Stephen Reynolds) for his son, Kui (Edward Jackson Reynolds).
In witness whereof we set our names on the 28th day of February in the year of our Lord 1846.

Witnessed by: P.T. Kaleohekoi, James S. Dowsett, Kilimana.
In consideration of the receipt by us this day of $800, we consent to the approval by the Premier and the Land Commissioners, of this deed which we have made for his son, Kui (Edward Jackson Reynolds).
We consent that Lanai be given the document.

Question: Do you (two) know the validity of the land documents (sale) of Kaiwi and Kalua and Ulualoha?
J. Ii: Yes.
Then they (two) wrote their names on those documents as witnesses.
