Claim 8512, Josiah Hook, Waimea, February 1, 1848
F.R. 24-25v3
To Board of Land Commissioners, &c., Gentlemen:
I am now holding a parcel of land on Hawaii in the estate (district) of Kohala, named Kohala II. I have held it since 1839 (February) and partly cultivated it to a considerable extent. It was given to me by Governor Adams, and I have since held it as my own. When I got it from him I was to keep it undisturbed by any one, but probably I must know from you how I am to hold it hereafter.
Signed &c. Josiah Hook
