By this instrument is recorded the firm decision by Hoapilikane, governor of Maui, and William A. McLane and Edwin Miner concerning a certain land at Makawao on Maui. Hoapilikane hereby gives a certain land at Makawao to William A. McLane and Edwin Miner for fifty years from this date. Said land shall be for them only, and their heirs who shall be real /Hawaiian/ subjects. The annual payment for said land shall be one hundred dollars.

They hereby agree to fulfill all the conditions of this instrument which apply to them.
