To the Land Commissioneres, Greetings: I hereby tell you the size of my houselot at Waimea:
North side, 120 fathoms
East side, 120 fathoms
South side, 98 fathoms
West side, 105 fathoms
However, in my mind I am not confident that these measurements are correct, as it was measured by the Hawaiian method [distance between tips of longest fingers of a man, measured with arms extended to each side]. It was surveyed by the tall Haole Surveyor who came here and went away. Perhaps you have been told, perhaps not ....
