Petition for land right to a houselot.
I hereby petition you, the land commissioners for a houselot at Kooka at Lahaina, and at Hononana at Kahakuloa on Maui, and at Kaiwiki at Hilo, on Hawaii. The basis of my claim at Kooka and Hononana are from Hoapili kane, who gave it absolutely to me. The basis of my claim at Kaiwili was firmly established by my makuakane from Kamehameha I.
The time when Hoapili gave me those aforesaid lands was before the death of the ali`i Kalaimoku. During the time when Kamehameha I was living at Kailua, my makuakane was given Kaiwil ....

Laahili, sworn, I have seen the land from the house lot to the patch area. That is not an old patch. From the beginning of our habitation on Maui here, Paikaualani has always worked on the patch area. I have not seen or heard who had given him (land). I had only seen him building the patch section. This work was done during Hooikaika's time. I do not know the reason it was given away and this was during the time of Kauluohi.
