Claim 4038, William Beadle, Waimea, Hawaii, January 15, 1848
To the Board of Land Commissioners, &c., Gentlemen
I forward to you my claim for a bulding lot given me by W.P. Leleiohoku on 14 June 1844 in substance as follows, "All persons desirous of building and enclosing a portion of land, to request an obtain permission from W.P. Leleiohoku."
On application to him he gave me the following portion of land:

.... tely heard Leleihoku give him by saying, Have your choice. I have seen /his land/ exactly as he has claimed in his document and he is now living there. I have never heard anyone object to him to this day.
Hueu, sworn and stated, I have heard this place has been acquired by William Beadle from Leleihoku just as Kaahunaliiole has stated here. I have not known that there have been any objections.
