Greetings to the Land Commissioners: I am telling you of my house lot at Kaumakapili close to the bridge (uwapo) of L. Smith. This is a new place, however, since my first place was taken by the road and this place was given me absolutely by the Governor, as my own former place was which had been taken by the road.

.... liu's sworn testimony:

It was I who gave them (two) their place at the time of Kaahumanu's death and my interest is by Kekuhaupio. I have given my rights to this land completely to him (Poka), so he built a house but it was not yet completed when the property had to be worked out for a road. Governor M. Kekuanaoa and Kuapanio gave this new land and they have lived there as they do now, no one has objected to this time.
