To the Land Commissioners, respectfully: I, Nawaakoa, hereby explain my claim, an `Ili named Pohakuou in the Ahupua'a of Paunau in Lahaina, Island of Maui. However, there are two pauku /small sections/ in this land. One side is at Paunau kai and one is at Paunau uka. The 'Ili tax No. 3 is $1.50. My claim for which I petition you is that I have given my annual poll tax and have gone to the po`alima work.

For your information I received my right of occupancy as follows: From Pualinui to Ulunahele, and from Ulunahele to me. Therefore I have a long standing right in this `Ili. I am with aloha to you all.
