Gentlemen: About 1835 I did work for Kapiulani [sic] to amount of 300 $, 150$ of which she paid in various articles. the remaining 150 she gave a tract of land for, situated in Onauli about 1840. I exchanged this land for a land in Kaawaloa with Kapaakea called at the water side Owili, Mauka Manapipi.

At time of exchange Kapaakea gave the writings that it should be mine, my wife's and children's during our lives: that Kapaakea is not to turn me off, and that I am not to leave it. In those pap ....

.... for a piece of land in Koloaiki, Kona. It contains about five acres. I received it from Governor W. P. Leleiohoku in the year 1845., I think. I have occupied and planted the land ever since without dispute.

It is bounded:
On Kailua side by the road leading to the mountain
Mauka by the woods
On Kau side by the land called Koloanui
On makai side by a round hill.

Hale, sworn says, he knows the land of claimant in Koloaiki. I came here from Oahu after the death of Governor Pitt, and Barrett had possession of the land now claimed.
