In accordance with the treaty entered into between the King of the Sandwich Island and Captain Laplace, Commander of the French frigate L'Artimise, bearing date of July 12th 1839: I, Kamehameha III hereby give and transfer to the Government of France a certain piece of land in Honolulu and in that part of it called by the people, Kalanikahua, said piece of land is 132 feet land and 111 broad, and is designated by four stakes ....
