F.T. 179-182v2

John Jason, sworn, I obtained this land from Governor Kekuanaoa before 1837 for my services as blacksmith to him. I built upon and fenced it and lived there till I sold it to Mr. Montgomery in 144. The fence is the true boundary of the land. There are 3 houses on it and I do not know of any counter claim.

Isaac Montgomery, sworn, this is the same lot as is now occupied by Captain Mossman, on the junction of Mauna Kea and Hotel Streets. I purchased the place of Mr. Jason in 1844 and sold it the same year to Mr. Gravier. I bought it in August and sold it part in November & part in December to Claimant. I know of no counter claimant.
John Jason and Isaac Montgomery acknowledge their signatures to the following deeds and documents.

No. 691, Kelemaka or Gravier, February 7, 1848

Kelemaka has reported two bills of sale: for John Jason to J. Montgomer and two bills of sale for J. Montgomer to Kelemaka.

J. Jason, sworn by the Word of God and stated, "I have seen this land; it is here in Honolulu. It had been mine previously.

Kekuanaoa had given it to me for my attendant, Amara, before the roads were page 505
being built in the year 1837 probably. I had built a fence and put up a house (and had it) until the time I had a sale with J. Montgomery. "The president showed to John Jason his bill of sale with J. Montgomery and he (J. Jason) agreed his signature was on that document.

J. Montgomery, sworn by the Word of God and stated, "I have seen this land; it is in Honolulu here. It is there that a certain foreigner is living. This pro-perty is close to Maunakea street which I had bought from John Jason in the year 1844, in the month of August. Later in the month of November or probably December I sold this property to Kelemaka (Gravier). The president showed the sale document and J. Montgomery had approved that his signature was on that document."
