To the Honorable Wm. Richards, President of the Land Commissioners: As in the law enacted in 1845, I am explaining the boundaries of my house lot, thus:
I have given Kekala a certain half of said lot, the eastern side is his. The side adjoining the house of Kamikana is what I am telling you about - the length is 16 fathoms, 2 feet or more, the width mauka, 9 fathoms and 1 foot or more, the length between, dividing my lot equally with that of my hunona, Kekala, 13 fathoms and 4 feet the width makai, 11 fathoms. When the roads were being built, I had seen Mahu living there until the present time. I have not known that anyone has ever objected to him. The governor had given that property to Mahu.
John Ii, sworn by the Bible and stated, Prior to the years that Kapena has just mentioned, Mahu was living on a separate land and Keaka Amala wanted that land so he filed a claim with the governor and the place was given to him. Later the governor gave this place to Mahu and I have known like Kapena has just mentioned that no other person has any interest there.
