Greetings to you, William L. Lee President of the Land Commissioners: I request of you that I be awarded my house lot on which I live at Nu-helewai, and my little patches.
My parents lived here since the battle of Nuuanu and my makuakane died in the year 1834 or 1835 and my makuahine continued to live there, and on her death I live on herein their place, continuing to live here in this place with no objections from any one.

.... there is no fence and no pasture. The (his) land had been from his mother and Mahi is Nuuanu's father; Mahi had died in the year 1835 or probably six and at that time, the land was inherited by Kuo, Mahi's sister. Then in the year 1845 she died and the land was inherited by Nuuanu; therefore, this is an inherited land and no one objected."
