Kamehameha III, By the Grace of God, King of the Hawaiian Islands, by this his Royal Patent, makes known, unto all men, that he has for himself and his successors in office, this day granted and given, absolutely, in Fee Simple unto Charles Gordon Hopkins, his faithful and loyally disposed subject for the consideration of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000), paid into the Royal Exchequer, all those certain pieces of Tracts of land, situated in the District of Koolauloa in the Island of Oahu, known by the names of Punalau, Ulupehupehu, Oio 1 & 2, and Hanakaoe  and described as follows:

Commencing at North West angle of Hanakaoe adjoining North East angle of Kawela and run
South 22 3/4° East 52 Chains 80 links along the land called Kawela, thence
South 19° East 10 Chains 20 links also along the same land, thence
South 18° East 13 Chains 82 links to the top of a small hillock, thence
