I hereby tell you, the Land Commissioners, of my petition for a house lot. I, Pakohana, hereby state to you that I acquired the interest in my house lot at the time when Nahienaena was returned to Maui, which was perhaps in the year 1846. I got it from Pupuka, it was he who gave it to us, and our house stands there.

Namauu, sworn and stated, "I have known exactly as Z. Kaauwai has stated here. This is also true of the time of the protest. He (Z. Kaauwai) was there until 1840 when Pakohana returned to Oahu here, while her father is still living there presently.
